Hilary asks: Do you like sardines? If you do, what are your favorite ways to eat them?


This is a great blog!

I thought I was the only one who actually made a greek salad and mixed in a few sardines. I love sardines out of a can aswell, usually in tomato sauce or tomato sauce with spicy chili. With some toast or crackers, a dab of olive oil, and a raw, diced onion for a little kick on occasion.

Fresh pan fried sardines (the ones from Portugal) are simply amazing! Frozen will do just fine when fresh can`t be had.

Brisling sardines (with skin anfd bones) mashed on fresh baked Italian bread with extra virgin olive oil, onions and a little mayo.

I really enjoy eating sardines on whole wheat crackers, cream cheese, and onion. Also excellent with a dash of Frank's Hot Sauce!

I love sardines. My dear Mother and Grandmother ate them with cottage cheese, red onions, cucumber and tomatoes etc. In other words i grew up as a child eating sardines and I am glad I did. I honestly did not know how good they were for me to eat. Now I can appreciate the influence of these two special women in my early life.

I crack can tin of sardines add crushed clove of garlic and a tablespoon of mayo as a spread for toast mmmm

I just tried sardines with egg whites it was delicious .I also tried it with pretzels and cream cheese for good.
