I keep it simple with low sodium saltine crackers, Ritz (garlic), etc. I just consumed a tin of Sardines packed in Olive Oil with green spiced chiles...Mmm Mmm! Laughing Cow cheeses also spread on a cracker topped with sardines. Or, Mom's homemade pepper jelly...cream cheeses...endless possibilities depending on the tastebuds...

I avoid anything packed in cans; can you purchase them in other packaging?

I'm a non cook! My kids and I love to have them on hot buttered toast... just out of a can. I'll try to find fresh ones..

My favorite Greek recipe with Sardines is in the oven. You put 2 lbs cleaned and gutted Sardines, head off if you prefer, in a pan or oven safe dish, with 1 grated or pureed yellow or red onion, 3 cloves crushed garlic, and 4 grated medium vine tomatoes, add white wine and chopped parsley to taste. Let it bake uncovered at 180 Celsius for 30 minutes.

I love sardines on wheat crackers with lots of Tabasco sauce, sirachi sauce, or old-fashioned Louisiana hot sauce. Today I'm going to try sardines on crackers with cream cheese and black bean Pico de Gallo. Looking forward to lunch!

Thanks, I was a little anxious about trying some sardines with bones and skin, but I like what you said about the calcium, so I'm gonna give it a shot.

sardines on a cracker (garlic butter ritz) with a little fetta cheese spread (crumbled fetta mixed with 2 teaspoons of almond milk, garlic and onion; mix and scoop with cracker) yummy... also add some "hot and sweet" pickles on the side...
