I eat them with crackers primarily. I have also used chopped red onions and added a little mustard. I prefer the red onions because the flavor is not as overpowering as the white onions.

Can't eat them but I have tried. Taste way to fishy and smell bad. Gave them a shot though.

I just open the can and go to it. Have eaten sardines for years just this way. I like the ones in oil. My
other half likes them--oil, mustard,or hot sauce. We have them for lunch with crackers only about 3 times a week.

As was suggested, on a cracker is the best!, My grandfather introduced me to them when I was young. Come to think of it, much of the way he ate (apples by the bushel, cooked beans, home-made vegetable soup, are all in "vogue".
