Lov'em! I marinate fresh diced red onions in white or cidar vinager for about 20mins. I add the onions to the sardines with 1 clove of freshly grated garlic and salt & pepper to taste... that's it! I may add some other herbs such as oregano, dill, cayenne pepper, etc...
I also may add about a teaspoon of the left behind vinegar to the mix, and eat with toast or crackers! Delicious!

I love them straight, bones and skin, i skin them myself the eat the skin by itself. then when im done with that i take the fish, put it on some bread, and eat it. The bones add a great crunchy feeling, you know like eating stale saltine crackers.

In a FlatOut wrap, first put mustard on all of it, then add baby spinach and crunch up a whole can of sardines and on top add a sliced tomato and then some broccoli slaw on top and roll up and serve a knife and fork with a glass of dark cold grape juice. Yuuum. Rena Barlow

My friends are always making fun of me for buying "fish heads in mayonnaise"; the fools. Any way try creamed hearing with pumpernickel bread. It was very good while it was fresh. Couldn't finish the jar because of the idiots and there dislike for the kind of foods I like. Which unfortunately is the food most people don't like. Not sure if I do that on purpose or not.

I like sardines but they give me fish burps now that I am older. I suppose I have fish breath too. I wish someone would make a litmus test for bad breath they would be rich overnight. That is one thing you cannot tell you have unless someone turns up their nose at you and goes phewwww. And I have dentures which soak up the fish odor. any suggestions.

I usually prepare roasted garlic in olive oil, use 1 or 2 cloves of the garlic, 1/2 cup olive oil with 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar, emulsify the vinaigrette, add freshly ground pepper, chop and warm the boneless/skinless sardines in the microwave for 30 seconds and have them on a Carr's peppercorn table water cracker or Carr's cheese crackers. Delicious!

I always look for tins of two layer small "brisling" sardines, in plain olive oil. Not always easy to find!
I drain off the oil and put them on a small plate. Then I add either poupon mustard and sweet relish on the side, or sweet mustard or sweetened horseradish sauce and eat with a fork. Sometimes I add chopped onions or just lay out a couple of green onions. I like lightly smoked herring the same way.
Half a can is usually just right per person, so this serves two of us.
