Hilary asks: Do you like sardines? If you do, what are your favorite ways to eat them?

I love the sardines you can buy in mustard, rather than oil. Usually, I just put them on a thin slice of grainy pumpernickel. Thank you for the reminder - it has been a while since I've eaten this!

I love the sardines in mustard too! We grew up eating them on saltines or stoned wheat thins. Soooo yummy.

I like them with sliced onion and lemon and a touch of tobasco. Delicious.

I enjoy a few sardines mixed in with brown rice and warmed in the microwave. I sometimes use a spritz of a butter spray. Yum!

I love sardines! But I must say for someone trying them for the first time - get the ones in olive oil, they have the mildest flavor. Personally, I think the ones packed in water are horrible.
Favorite way to eat them? Spread a large whole grain cracker with cottage cheese (with toasted onion and chive if you can find it) and then top with a sardine. Delicious!

I was raised eating sardines, and didn't know it would be considered "weird". One of the best ways to eat them is directly from the can, but some people get squeamish looking at the little headless fish with tails. You can mash them up with a little bit of vinegar (plain white works for me) and bread crumbs if you like and use them as a spread for crackers.

I just open the can of sardiines in oil with salltines and eat them. I also like them in salads, my family members are not crazy about them. They make a wonderful light lunch with a glass of iced tea.

I love sardines - I simply mix some raw onions and green chllies (optional) and squash them all together and spread it on whole grain bread and eat as a sandwhich. You can also lightly butter the bread before spreading with sardines. No cooking involved!

I grew up eating them with my father. We used to eat them out of the can, & also put them in salad with red wine vinaigrette. mmm that was good! I think I might have that for lunch today!
