I love to take two slices of whole grain brand a can of sardine and make a sandwich , this is trully delic, I am still trying to get my hubby to try this one but he thinks i am nuts, luv it

I have always been brought up eating tinned Sardines from childhood as they were a great pantry staple in NZ and a convenient, nourishing and inexpensive snack or meal bones, oil and skin which I personally think adds texture and great mouth feel with the soft skin, crunchy soluble bone and oily semi firm fleshed fish.
I have tried some very expensive fish oil replacements to up my omega intake and found that whilst they are advertised on TV as a fruit cocktail punchy filled flavour with no nasty after taste I have to say the add is a complete crock. The flavour was disgusting like cod liver oil and mandarin cordial and the after taste would not go away for hours even when you cleaned your teeth or brushed your tongue with your toothbrush for ages to rid your mouth of that unforgettable taste lol.
One nearly 40.00 dollar all be it a small bottle went in the bin and I am still confused that this advertiser promotes the oil here in Australia with a cute little cartoon fish which to all accounts is delighted with the teaspoon that he is fed. It is not because it tastes yucky to me but more the crazy logic of the advertising company that thought it would be cute to have a cartoon fish swimming around who loves rather than swimming and playing with his fishy friends to drink them in the form of a once a day dose of omega III fish oil, go figure!.
I like one of your other responses have most of the time had the Sardines straight on fresh brown or rye bread. The way I prefer having Sardines is on hot buttered toasted brown bread with a sprinkle of brown vinegar dashed over the top and topped with another buttered and toasted slice of brown or Rye. Why do so many people try to push and promote fish? It's full of mercury and it's not a myth. No one should have more than half of a can of tuna per week.

Served on french bread with slices of garlic, olive oil and basil. Open the can of sardines and enjoy on top of the garlic french bread. Throw on a couple of tomatoes too.

I know this won't help anyone,but as soon as I get home from the grocery store I open a can of sardines,get a salad fork,and start eating. Then I eat the salad that I was going to put the sardines on :)

I love sardines, the best are in mustard sauce on crackers. I will only eat 1 can at a sitting but I really could eat more.

CUT TOMATOES IN SMALL CUBES, ONIONS, ROMAINE, CANNED JALAPENOS, CELERY. put in bowl mix with a tin sardines. Serve as tostadas add lemon and salt. enjoy

I like to mash the sardines up, mix with mustard and spread them on saltines, and munch. Sounds gross, but dont knock it till you try it.
