I have been diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity to barley, rye, and wheat. My obvious symptoms are Arthritis, Atopic Dermititis, Osteoporosis, Thyroid Disease, and Digestive Disturbances. Some of the
less obvious symtoms may be Allergies of food and environment, Alopecia, Infertility, and Gout. I am
not totally avoiding some of my allergens like Soy and Corn but I can tell a marked difference when I do.

Yes, I avoid gluten. At 69 years old and a life time of medical problems that started when I was a young person with terrible skin issues that I still had at 68. As a teenager I had leg pain that was unexplainable. As I got older I had digestive issues, IBS, Crohn's disease, loud burps, gas, vomiting, diarrhea, ulcers, open stomach ulcer surgery, debilitating migraines, thyroid issues, stomach removed because of excess acid, hyadial Hernia, esophageal issues, raynauds, dry eye and mouth, and now CREST. Never diagnosed by a doctor even though I went to the best teaching university hospital in Pittsburgh with amazing (or were they?) specialists. My sister said to stop eating gluten and I would not believe how quickly I would heal. I am now seeing a rheumatologist and been gluten free for 5 months.

When I eat gluten, I have problems with dizziness and extreme vertigo that lasts for up to 8 hours.

It's totally NOT related to being born in spring. Who gets paid to do such ridiculous studies. And who on earth are they studying?! Seriously! We have medically confirmed cases of celiac disease in our family and also those that have just stopped eating wheat/ gluten products on account of how much better they feel without it in their diet. It benefits most people to cut back the amount of wheat they consume. However, all the family members who have been blood tested and have been confirmed as celiac a are born in the fall in my family. It is absolutely genetic! Australian researchers have confirmed they have isolated a gene that predisposes you to celiac disease. I've also read that it could correlate to blood type, but date of birth??? Ha!

I guess I have a problem w/the premise that babies aren't exposed to gluten until abt 6 months of age - wouldn't breastfed babies be getting it via mother's milk, from birth?
