If there was no other salmon available in the market, I would give it a try.

There is no way I would eat genetically engineered salmon (or anything else) for the very simple reason that it is not natural. Additionally, I believe that genetically engineered salmon (like farmed salmon) is likely to be fed substances they would not normally eat (ie corn pellets). Undoubtedly, this unnatural diet will have consequences in the meat (think cows eating corn) that scientist may still be unaware of (or agri-food is concealing) and eating it will effect humans in ways wild salmon does not (again, think corn fed cows vs. grass fed). We need to eat high quality animal products is less quantity not more of lower quality.

no, I too love salmon, wild salmon, not farmed, not genetically engineered.
for now I catch my own wild salmon and I will continue to eat that as long as possible.
I too think this will get blended into wild and will change the wild stocks.
I believe in conservation and th protection of our wild salmon.

No, there are already enough issues with genetically modified grains and other plants.

Absolutely not. I do not eat farmed fish and I avoid eating GMO products, inclding HFC which is most likely made with GMO corn.

How could any farmed salmon, whether it is GMO or not, come close to migratory salmon. I hope more people will stop supporting processed foods and eat natural whole foods. You can control your nutritional well being.

Contaminated sugar beets?? No I don't think so. The key word here is "MAY" not did. Like you said beets are not a mobile food. This sounds like sour grapes.
As for the salmon, you make two good points! At first it would seem that it is a good thing, looks like more for less but it isn't is it? I wonder what would happen if some got loose in the wild. This isn't a may get loose it is a will get loose! It always happens.
