Lisa asks: Would you eat genetically engineered salmon?

Hell No! I will never eat GE Salmon...This just makes me sick! Man has made a mess out of Mother Nature and just doesn't know when to quit.

I don't think we should eat ANYTHING that's GMO. No one knows what the long term effects will be with these foods and what it will do to our bodies. It's frightening to read that one of Montsano's executive officers is now a member of the board for the USDA. Montsano is one of the companies that hold patents for GMOs.

Lisa, after seeing this report and a few more like it, I'm convinced. If I don't buy it, I'm not eating it!

Saw this on Huffington Post...this is just the beginning. Remember, if you eat it in a restaurant, this is what you are going to be getting!

Things About Frankenfish

10. According to the FDA, Frankenfish Aren't Animals, They’re “Animal Drugs"
9. The GMO Part of the GMO Salmon Isn't Being Safety Tested
8. Frankenfish DNA Could Change the Bacteria of Your Gut
7. If It Swims Like a Salmon, FDA Says It's Safe to Eat
6. FDA Lets the Frankenfish Company Test Its Own Product's Safety
5. Frankenfish Is More Carcinogenic
4. Frankenfish Is Less Nutritious
3. Frankenfish Is More Allergenic
2. GMOs Can Mess a Fish Up!
But the freakiest thing about all of this is ...
1. The Government Wants More Transgenic Fish and Less Wild Fish

And if they DO get loose?? What if they DO get loose? Is the public going to be able to sue SOMEBODY who MIGHT be responsible?? How will that bring back the God-given-man-destroyed salmon??

Can you spell DUST BOWL?? Look it up. Observe the governments wisdom in encouraging masses of people to go plow and plant the plains. Yep. Seemed like a good idea at the time. When the soil was gone, it was gone. When our natural salmon ae gone, they'll be no bringing them back and no one will take responsibility for the present day foolishness.

The writer has been listening to the FDA hearings....what is the motivation for Gen. Engineered fishys?? The health of the public?? How about $$. I refer to the FDA as the Federal Death Administrators. When a label says a food contains spices we think basil, oregano etc. No, because of lobbyists in the food manf. business, the word 'spices' is used (allowed by the FDA) to cover a host of chemicals. Darling think about it....does this even SOUND like a good idea? And guess why wild salmon is better than farm raised? Because they swim (vigorously) in very deep and very cold waters WHERE THEY DEVELOPE THE FAT THAT CONTAINS THE OMEGA 3'S THAT EVERYBODY IS SO NUTS ABOUT. Raised in Panama? How are they going to duplicate the cold of mother nature? Any cooling method will eliminate any expected profit. Nope; you'll be eating salmon (and pout, don't forget the pout) with no more benefit to your body than a backyard goldfish.
AND the human body does NOT digest and process modified foods (beets or corn or anything else) the same as natural foods....the corn syrup advertisments these days ought to be banned BUT guess who's in their pocket?
Are we still trusting the government???? What do you know about seeds?? Check it out.

No, because if it's genetically engineered, then it's farm raised, and I don't eat (at least not intentionally) farm raised salmon. They're not as healthy as wild salmon, and from what I've been reading, are even harmful to wild salmon re: diseases passed on to the wild salmon.

Large corporations (and I hate to sound paranoid, but...) are in business to make money, not to keep us healthy. If you doubt this, just take a look at what's in your average processed package of anything. Basically, poison. And we wonder why cancer, diabetes and the like are on the rise. It's not just the environment, it's what we're putting in our bodies.

I wholeheartedly agree that I'm not jumping on the GE anything. Stick to organic (if you can afford it), locally grown foods. Better for us, better for the planet.

I don't believe you could write such a ignorant article.
I'm betting you eat MSG.
"AquaBounty added a growth hormone from a Chinook salmon that allows the fish to produce growth hormone all year long. These "frankenfish" could cause allergies in humans and the eventual decimation of the wild salmon population. Representatives from consumer, environmental and food safety groups asked the agency to decline the company's application to market the fish, saying it is untested."
So lets turn the clock back when they made bovine growth hormones for cows contaminating our meat, cheese and milk supply. How many cancers are out there from these GMO's now?
"The WHO have expressed concern that if the “antibiotic resistant marker genes” used in GMO foods got transferred to bacteria, it creates super- diseases."

"Genetic instability that can wreak havoc on DNA structure and function of our human cells."

"Scientists believe that dormant viruses that have become embedded within the DNA in GMO food can generate uncontrolled cell growth that could theoretically lead to cancer."
"New research suggests that varieties of Monsanto genetically engineered CORN cause organ toxicity, raising concerns anew about the safety of genetically modified foods."
"Three varieties of corn genetically engineered by the controversial giant Monsanto have been linked to heart, liver and kidney damage."
