Just need some clarification. My doc told me corn was a grain and not a veggie. You refer to sweet corn as a veggie. Is sweet corn different in that aspect?

Good point, Anonymous. While the USDA classifies corn as a vegetable, it is in fact a grain. When you eat Sweet Corn on the cob, you're eating a whole grain!

It is disgusting to me that GMO corn and other products are not labeled as such. Seems nobody wants to take up that cause, which tells me that there is so much GMO produce and ingredients in packaged foods that consumers would FREAK if they realized what they have been eating and for how long... Only option is organic until retailers start telling us what we are eatng.,,
How about an article about why GMO is gross? I think many think it is the equivalent of creating a hybrid.

If GMO's were such a wonderful thing, no one would feel the need to hide this information. Sweet corn is one of my favorites, however I stopped buying it a few years ago, suspecting they were all GMO's. Now I see a new type of corn being sold, "Amaize". I did not purchase it since the store did not state it was organic or not. I came home and researched it and found out it was not a GMO. Now I am running back to the store to buy a much awaited treat. Hiding a products origin hurts even those that create a natural product as the consumer is now suspicious of all.

Definitely - not carb loaded like potato, light on the stomach, excellent for constipation and
low calorific value.................What more does a body need?

For some reason, corn and corn products are the only starchy foods I can digest! My glutin intolerance shouldn't preclude rice, and yet rice is no more digestible to me than wheat.

What is it about corn that makes my finicky digestive system love it so much? Whatever it is, thank heavens for it!

You say that 1 corn ear has the same amount of calories as an apple but an apple is much bigger than a corn ear and an ear of corn has less than one quarter of the sugar but again an ear of corn is way less than one quarter of an apple which must mean that an ear of corn has around a quarter of the sugar in an apple packed into one!!! Also would u say popcorn is healthy because that is just made of dried corn!!!
