We prefer the coconut juices containing pulp; we think the flavor is better and we enjoy munching on the little bits of coconut. Neither of our favorite brands are on your list, which are "Real" and "Amy & Brian's", and we wonder what the nutritional info is on them. Is there added sugar?

I drink VitaCoco and One. Plain no flavoring added. I love them because they are just the juice out of the coconut. No water added, no sugar added. I don't like the sweetened ones and come in cans.
Anyway, I drink a lot of water. I drink the coconut water for my health. My skin, my chronic pain and to keep my intestines clean of parasites. (I've gotten 2 parasites from drinking water.) Normally I don't drink tap water as it makes me vomit. However, I used to make tea from it. Instant tea. It changed the flavor of the water, & I wouldn't vomit. Then I had pains in my stomach for months. The doctor did a blood test and discovered a parasite.
Coconut water has been said to kill parasites. I only drink filtered water as well. Coconut water tastes good and it does give me the nutrients and electrolytes I need for that pick me up kind of feeling. I know when my energy starts sapping away, I chug some coconut water and I start feeling better. I love it.

My daughter was looking for a healthy alternative to pop so she tried it. She hated it. I said I'd try because I am more tolerant of different foods. I hated it.

I go to the supermarket and buy real coconut, use a hammer to crack it a bit, then I use a sharpe knife to make a small slit in the coconut' hold it over a container, if you get a bit dust in the water, just strain it .done.

Vita Coco is much perferred choice. I drink it after a daily workout to get the potassium benefit along with eating a small bananna. I also love the flavors together.

To do an article on coconut water and fail to include a fresh coconut in the water study leaves this article lacking substance.

We live in the Caribbean where my husband normal uses his machette to open them up for us to drink au naturale. If there aren't any around or the supermarket has run out of its fresh local bottled coconut water, we normally buy Vita Coco. I find that brand to be the next best thing to our local drink. I understand that coconuts from different parts of the world taste different. During a round of kidney infections I drank quite a bit of fresh coconut water and I think it really helped flush the system and ease the pain. My husband's family told me that in the 'old days' on the island, coconut water was used as a substitute for plasma until patients could be moved flown by air ambulance to an onshore hospital! Another plus is, using it as a mixer with rum drinks lessens the hang over! On the down side, My Dr warned that drinking too much can raise your potassium levels too high and that it is not good for your heart.

When I was a little girl-teen, my parents, who were from India, would take me there every two years. One of the neatest things to me would be stopping at the coconut street vendor while shopping. He would have green coconuts (the skin was on), something I hadn't seen in the USA. He would slice the top off with a machete, stick a straw in it and hand it to you to drink! Instant coconut beverage and obviously fresh! That's my favorite.
