My dad is from Greece and raised me on a super strict Greek diet that after 33 years, has kept me healthy as a horse. He taught me to eat some form of dark greens every single night with dinner, and not just eat the greens, but keep the boiled green juice from the pot, add lemon juice and/or a touch of salt and pepper, and drink it as a tea or broth before bed. It's tricky sometimes to find time or energy to boil all that stuff, but i've started a routine where every Sunday night while i'm getting my things together for the new work week, I'll put my largest pot of water on the stove, bring it to a boil and just start boiling one green after another- broccoli, kale, collards, spinach (just make sure you save the beets for last!). let them cool and just drizzle some extra virgin olive oil over them, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Then you have a dark green to choose from at dinner for the whole week. I'm also a nurse and spent time with a holistic physician who taught me the importance of Vit D with ginger root. As soon as I feel like things aren't completely balanced in my system, i double up on my Vit D and ginger and i'm practically skipping within hours.

Oranges - but lots of fruit. Lots of vegetable soups - hot tea. Fluids to help flush the body - my favorite is water. Get plenty of sleep and wash your hands always.
