Presumably, the sugar doesn't have to be in the coffee, the turmeric on the salmon, or the mustard on the broccoli. I want my coffee black, but I'm not opposed to a donut with it. I'd serve salmon with rice to which turmeric has been added, or chicken with a honey-mustard glaze with the broccoli. This approach wold give the cook a lot more flexibility. What would be good to know, though, is whether heating, say, the mustard or the turmeric would destroy the crucial enzyme

I take a supplement that has the synergy of 5 "foods" that make it work so well (tumeric, bacopa, milk thistle, greent tea and ashwagandha). It's been compared to sulforaphane in a published study and is much more effective in reducing free radicals and oxidative stress. I found this article interesting in that you talk about synergy! It really is true.

If you eat liver paté for the iron in it, the absorption is maximized if you take parsley with it !
