Brierley asks: Do you take a probiotic supplement?

I've taken an 80 billion strain probiotic for a year now. Normally in that amount of time I would have had at least 2-3 colds, which would have turned into bronchitis. In this year, I have still been sick 3 times but so slightly that I didn't even need bed rest or time off work. This last time I wasn't even sure what was happening because many of my usual symptoms didn't even exist.

If you're going to take a probiotic, brace yourself, they are expensive for the good ones. But spending $20-$30 a month on one without enough strains or cultures is a waste of money. You typically see anywhere from 500 - 2 million cultures. My homeopath tells me anything under 30 billion doesn't do much so I buy the highest does I can find for $40/month and so far so good.

Oh - and staying healthy was just the icing on the cake. I started taking them for digestive reasons and have had nothing but good results.

Good luck!

Interesting your article. I take probiotics and feel great. Any way I don't buy them. I prepare myself sauerkraft and kefir. This way they are free of chemical preservative adds. I observed inclusive they calm down fever and gastritis too. Any way it is only mi opinion. Thank you for all information about our health.

Yes, I take Culturelle & Florastor. Both are great at replenishing the guts normal flora. The additional benefit of Florastor is that it is a yeast so it is impervious to antibiotics.

Yes! I take Digestive Advantage. It survives the stomach acids. The full amount doesn't always survive to the digestive track in food. I saw it on Dr. Oz. I've been taking it for 2 months now, and was sick last week, only for a day and 1/2. From what I'm reading in this article it may be because I'm taking them. I believe I will continue taking them.
