Rachel asks: How do you limit the added sugars in your diet?


I eat NO added sugars since I eat no processed food - and the only fructose I eat is contained in the natural (from seedling trees) fruit I consume (since 1966).

There's no doubt that metabolism of a given molecule WILL vary, depending on the source. Sources matter. Eat no processed food.

The only way I've really found to limit sugars is to read the ingredient list and cook myself. It's really surprising how sugar is lurking where you least expect it! (And the amounts are often just shocking)

I limit added sugar by not eating white processed foods which turn into sugar in your body.

Reduce my intake of processed foods. Number one way to eat less sugar!

I think some people either believe the marketing hype on the front of the box or choose not to read the back. There are also many that do read the ingredients but are not really sure what they are reading. The more people understand what they are reading on the back will force food companies to really watch what they are putting in foods.
