Not all farmers market foods are local and not all their food is organic. Some farmer's are using pesticides and herbicides in growing their food. The Farmer's market allows you to talk to the farmer and make the determination whether or not you should buy. Find the ones you like and buy their produce.

Well, not all of us have access to swanky farmer's markets with organic vegetables and farm fresh eggs. The word 'organic' is synonomous with expensive to me anyway. I can see if people have certain food allergies and must eat organic fruits and vegetables, but there is a difference between that and people just eating it so that they can boast about eating 'organic' and "local".
I love the information about frozen vegetables being just as nutritious or even more so. The other big plus to frozen is that they don't go bad in three days, which is a huge money saver!

I had to laugh when I read this article - the biggest myth of all is that the best place to buy any of these items is at the grocery store! I get my eggs from a friend who has chickens, my milk from a herdshare arrangement, vegetables from a CSA and farmer's market, and either make my own bread or also purchase it at the farmer's market. It's so much cheaper when I stay out of the store - and I'm able to find organic versions of everything, plus support my local economy.

That's not to say I don't occasionally go to the store to pick up non-staples, or a bunch of cilantro or pasta, but it's definitely not where I get the above items on a regular basis.

that "orange" cheese, such as orange cheddar or longhorn is bad because it's been colored. As I understand it, the coloring used is carotene. I grew up in the Midwest with orange cheese, and where I live now, in New England, the folks look down upon orange cheese.
