I think we worry too much about exercise, foods, how much water we drink, etc. If we live in moderation of foods and drinks ingested and activity, we will live as long as we are genetically programed to live. Laugh a lot, don't worry about mistakes, just enjoy this journey!

Q: Why, for so many years, has the ADA een so stubborn and recommended:
55% CHO, 30% Fat, and 20% protein? The Food Pyramiod was chocked full of CHO from grains.
The myth: High Protein Diets are hard on the kidneys.
I prefer: 40%CHO, 30% Fat, and 30% protein. My kidneys are just fine (I stay well hydrated).
The Mediterainian Diet (in my opinion) is probably the healthiest for all human beings.

If your body truly tells you to eat it, then eat it....but STOP when it says enough! Surpressing only makes you indulge later and probably overload on fat and cals. Listen to your body!

Absolutly none! And I can truthfully state that I eat real butter, what would be considered fatter cuts of beef, eggs daily, and chocolate. My weight at 42 years and 5'11" as a male is 148-152. What I may do differently than most is get in my daily diet whole grains, lots of brightly coloured veggies, red wine, and regular though not excessive exercise. Key to this is portion control and knowing that when I eat I need to be active. When the warmer months arrive not much changes. Perhaps the presentation and a bit the portions. The steaks ( I adore ribeye for the flavor) likely end up sliced hot on the cold salads, the eggs and cheese in quiche, starches as cold salads. Vinegars and wine reductions add flavor instead of salts. Lets not forget fresh herbs and citrus. I am one of those persons planning my next meal while I eat yet focusing on what is healthy.

I have found that by following a modified Atkins style diet, protein, veggies, eggs, salads, oil and vinegar dressing, is best for me. I've lost nearly 100 lbs over 2 years. Still got 50 to go, but I think if I hadn't found Atkins I would not have lost any.
One thing made a difference that is Cabbage. I use it for Home Fries, Spaghetti, and in lots of soups. I slice it into strips, cook it slightly (about 8 to 10 minutes) for use as a pasta substitute. Chop coarsely for Home Fries.
I make my own pasta sauce, canned tomato sauce diced canned tomatoes or fresh tomatoes, basil, onions, Italian seasoning, hot red pepper, shrimp, meat sauce or clams,or nothing at all.
Chicken, canned tuna, hamburg, ham, pork and salads make up the rest of my diet..
Splenda, diet soda, and lots of water.

I always eat red potato. I add first cold pressed olive oil, and bake in the oven. Along with that copper salmon or silver salmon, I add olive oil and garlic and bake also. With that kale , spinach, goat yugort, and fresh fava beans.
When it comes to eggs, I do eat 2 egg (cage free), every 47 days. I do not buy them from regular super market becuase they bleach the eggs.
Along with that and the most important is the excercise. I walk 18 hours a week. I do walk after every meal.

So much bad information has come out of so-called expert sources in the past few years, information that has contributed to our epidemic of obesity. I'm trying to forget everything the "nutritionists" have said and am trying to go back to the way my grandparents ate: lots of fresh vegetables and some fresh fruit and nuts. Lots of greens and salads. Poultry or fish no more than once a week. No beef or pork or lamb at all.

I am gluten free... it is hard but I can't live any other way now. I have heard gluten is not good for anyone, but is poison for many... I am trying to convert friends/family, so would love evidence that gluten is not good for anyone.
