I am a 31 year old man and I feel 90. I am probably 5' 6" and weigh about 280 lbs. I work in real estate and property management so I am limited on my time for activity. I rarely at most work out. My mom passed away at 51 years of age (diabetes and heart complications), my dad at 62, (cirhosis that may have caused internal bleeding). I am scared. I have 6 children that depend on me waking up every day. I know I will not live forever, but is there something I may be able to do that can help my circumstances? My wife already lost 1 husband to bad health, and that is why I am here. Could she do it again???? Is there a miracle food I can eat that could help me. Help me please. any info may help.

I LOVE this article... Too many articles 'scare' people into eating things and I believe many diets are just too stressful and sets people up for disappointment. Years ago, they said 'milk' was not good and many elderly avoided it...only to find their bones became brittle and broke easier... Common sense goes a long way... Enjoy what you love... moderation.

I thought that whole grain breads really had lots of whole grain and fiber.

What is in the picture? Recipe? Looks like beans, rice, some green veg and a sunny side up egg on top.

Tell me what you think about Butter vs Margarine. I steer more to natural ingrediants and have rarely used margarine over the past decade. I get a lot of flak from friends and family. I also use olive oil whenever I can substitute for butter and not alter taste significantly....ie, replacing half olive oil for butter in dishes like fettucini alfredo which are loaded with fat.
