"All these suggestions and "scientific proofs" are nice, but it's always controversial. Well, why did my great-grandmother (who ate anything that was available) live till 105 than? Her favorite was Sala (pig fat). It's not only what you eat. Your personality (mental state), the air you breath, how active you are, genetics and other factors (and food too) all account to how long you'll live. I have another relative (lucky me :)), 90 year old lady who smoked since her early 50's, and check this out: the reason why she took on smoking was her son's death! Now, go and figure! It sound like a typical "life shortening" situation, but instead proves to be on the contrary.
I wouldn't suggest anyone to start smoking based on this situation, but it does tell all of us something we should pay attention to, isn't it? Overall, I personally believe nervous system plays the main role in having healthier and longer life."

I'm extremely healthy and do everything by the book (almost!) I'm a long-time vegetarian, mostly raw foods, I don't drink, I exercise 7 days a week, etc. My blood work is excellent. I'm in my 40s and nowhere near bone loss! I'm also a size 3. (And I do things for my health that a lot of people consider controversial, such as dry fasting, which works wonderfully -- but when I do a regular juice fast, it doesn't work as good.)
Now the punch line is, I have loved ones who eat everything, drink, smoke, don't exercise, eat late at night and are just as healthy as I am.
What I tell people is listen to your own body. Don't read books or follow diets that believe their way is the only way, don't believe that one size fits all. Find your own way!

Regarding your recommendation to eat beef...
There is no longer any doubt about the fact that eating meat is bad for your health.
The list of diseases known to be associated with meat, which are commoner among meat eaters, looks like the index of a medical textbook.
Anaemia, appendicitis, arthritis, breast cancer, cancer of the colon, cancer of the prostate, constipation, diabetes, gall stones, gout, high blood pressure, indigestion, obesity, piles, strokes and varicose veins are just some of the well known disorders which are more likely to affect meat eaters than vegetarians.
Avoiding meat is one of the best and simplest ways to cut down your fat consumption.
Those who still eat beef are, in my view, foolishly exposing themselves to the risk of contracting the horrifying human version of Mad Cow Disease.
Add to those hazards the fact that if you eat meat you may be consuming hormones, drugs and other chemicals that have been fed to the animals before they were killed and you can see the extent of the danger. No one knows precisely what effect eating the hormones in meat is likely to have on your health. But the risk is there and I think it's a big one. Some farmers use tranquillisers to keep animals calm. Others routinely use antibiotics so that their animals do not develop infections. When you eat meat you are, inevitably, eating those drugs. In America, over half of all antibiotics are fed to animals and I don't think it is any coincidence that the percentage of staphylococci infections resistant to penicillin went up from 13% in 1960 to 91% in 1988.
The healthiness of a vegetarian diet is perhaps shown most dramatically by the fact that lifelong vegetarians visit hospitals 22% less often than meat eaters - and for shorter stays! Vegetarians tend to be fitter than meat eaters - as well as healthier - and many of the world's most successful athletes (particularly those who specialise in endurance events) follow a strictly vegetarian diet.
It is the fat in meat that does most harm - and which makes meat eating an even bigger health hazard than smoking - but don't think you can avoid the dangers simply by avoiding red meat because you cannot. If you want to eat a truly healthy diet then you must give up eating meat completely.
There are, of course, all sorts of old-fashioned myths about eating meat.
It used to be claimed that people who didn't eat meat would be short of protein.
But that is now known to be absolute nonsense.
And it is equally untrue that if you don't eat meat your diet will be deficient in essential vitamins or minerals.
Meat contains absolutely nothing - no protein, vitamins or minerals - that your body cannot obtain perfectly happily from a vegetarian diet.
Becoming healthier isn't the only reason for turning green.
Many of those who stop eating meat do so for moral and ethical reasons as much as for personal gain.
Every minute of every working day thousands of animals are killed in slaughterhouses. Many animals are bled to death. Pain and misery are commonplace - for animals suffer from pain and fear just as much as you do.
In an average lifetime the average meat eater will consume 36 pigs, 36 sheep and 750 chickens and turkeys. More and more people are deciding that they just don't want that much carnage on their consciences. It is never too late to stop eating meat.
In addition, more and more people are becoming aware of the fact that hunger around the world could be eradicated if rich westerners stopped eating meat.
Every year over 400 million tons of grain are fed to livestock - so that the world's rich can eat meat.
At the same time, 500 million people in poor countries are starving to death.

I think you are right. People don't eat enough of the right kinds of fats and carbohyrates so they tend to get hungry and over eat sending them back to the kitchen to snack. Also fiber is a really great filler people! If you want to slim down or get hungry later after already eating a meal you most likely have not eaten enough fiber in that meal. Have an apple, they are great for filling the void until the next meal.

Childhood obesity has many factors, the biggest one which has been # 1 for many, many years, is their lack of exercise, and all the pre-fabricated chemically filled foods that children are given, because most have a parent or parents who truly "do not get" involved in their childrens lives!! How many times a day do you sit and eat at the same table with your child? How many times do you do any physical activity, during a given week with your child? (Handing over the remote control does not count!) How often do you monitor your children who are under 12 years of age, when not @ school? Do you involve yourself with your child's education, if so, how often every week? How often do you monitor your teenage child per week? How often do you have a one on one conversations with your child? These are just of few of the questions that you would be asked, if you were to neglect your child, and someone had to intervene. Consider yourself very lucky that it has not come down to this in our society, but pity the child, if many parents didn't get involved, as they should in the caregiving of their children. Being a parent is "the most important role" you will ever have in your life, bar none! No excuses, the most important, and until you take heed to this very well known fact, you will be creating dysfunctional human beings into a society, which is already filled with more than they can handle or know what to do with!

My knowledge went up 100% on many different foods that I had a total misconception of. Overall, this is an excellent source of information. Don't stop doing a wonderful, and life changing job. Our family will subscribe to the Eating Well magazine soon.

Food low in fat , no sugar very small amounts of dairy products any thing white is out .1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar per day lots of raw green vegatables ,no red meat .Baked boiled broiled steamed .Chicken ,fish ,tuna ,salmon ,rinced canned fruits boiled eggs oatmeal with fresh blue berries .
