Vitamin C packets fight off my colds successfully every single time. Zinc helps too. Dairy absolutely causes me extra mucus, at least in my throat.

I am a grandma, 6 kids, & many grandkids. For my family, & a lot of friends, #1 We do take high doses of Vit C, AND IT WORKS! NOT A MYTH! #2 We add honey to lemonade or to Celestial Tea, & IT WORKS TOO! NOT A MYTH! #3 We take Airborne as an Immune-Booster, IT WORKS! NOT A MYTH! #4 We DON'T drink milk, eat cheese, or any dairy when have symptoms that include congestion, BECAUSE IT CAUSES MORE CONGESTION! IT IS NOT A MYTH! Why are you going Against what doctors have suggested, and Works!?!?

Our exceptionally erudite family doctor is allopathic and has a medical degree from Georgetown. He recommends avoiding dairy for my child who has Reactive Airwaves Disease (RAD). There is no doubt that dairy creates congestion and I think that it's a load of bulldookey that "scientific evidence has yet to support this." Science simply hasn't caught up yet, because there is a DRAMATIC difference for every single member of my family when we avoid dairy. There's just no question: dairy causes more mucus in the throat and in the nasal passages for many people. You don't need to wait for a scientific study! Test it on yourself and see what happens when you avoid dairy for a couple of weeks. Just see if you don't breathe a whole heckuva lot more easily with dairy absent from your diet.
