Michelle asks: Has EatingWell helped change your life?


I see that the publisher of this magazine is a meyer, I did not know my sisters family, or all my cousins, and all their children, I wanted to find out if I was related, she looks like my sister, so I just wanted to find out may be she is one of familys children that I have not met yet.? I am a great great Aunt.

EatingWell has helped me to change my life. Through its beautiful photos, creative recipes and interesting articles I have found that healthy eating is not dull and flavorless. I can indulge my creative side in the kitchen and feel that my family and guests not only have enjoyed the food they have eaten, but were fed with love and health at the forefront.

I am a culinary arts student and so often the recipes in my classes are full of fat and sugar. Classic recipes. Delicious yes, healthy no. Healthy alternatives are rarely discussed. I feel that EatingWell has helped round out my culinary education giving me the important flip side of the kitchen. Healthy eating is nutritious, delicious and beautiful!!

I am still a work in progress, to be sure, but I feel that your magazine has been an important part of my learning experience. Thank you.

For one thing when I see color my eyes pop then u have my attention..ur pages are so attractive and vibrant that I was easily absorb for what y'all had to show me. I'm struggling now for mabe forty year with obesity and desired help wit weight loss . Since visiting ur website I've found new interest in food modification. I'll soon order a subscription to ur magazine for probably a better experience. Hopefully I'm on my way to more healthier eating , and funtionally fit body . Thank you.

A few years ago, my (new) husband's parents subscribed us to EatingWell magazine. We are so grateful they did! Not only do we have easy, healthy, and delicious meal using recipes from the magazine and on at our fingertips, but it's inspired a life change.

Last winter, I committed to losing 20 pounds, not only to prepare for our wedding last summer, but also because I was tired of the never-ending cycle of mindless eating. I exercised regularly, but I didn't know what my nutritional needs were. Last January's magazine connected me with essential tools to understand these needs. I continue to use, where I track my calories regularly and use a scale so I actually know how much I'm eating. These two tools, coupled with tips, such as eating protein to fill up and to eat regularly throughout the day, helped me lose 25 pounds.. I've sustained my weight loss for several months and am the healthiest I've ever been.

We got a slow cooker for our wedding and would love to sample more recipes from EatingWell's One-Pot Meals. We made two tasty dishes from the most recent issue: The Ethiopian-spiced chicken stew and just ate the shiitake & noodle hot & sour soup this evening...which inspired me to write you.

I love EatingWell. I spread the gospel to my young adult friends and got my sister and her husband a subscription. They are addicted to EatingWell too!

Glad you asked; about twenty years ago when I was living in Canada, I was walking by a news store that displayed magazines and newspapers from all over the world-one cover caught my eye. It was an Eating Well issue on creating the perfect hamburger. An inveterate food lover, I lived by the adage-the eyes take the first bite when dining. Well my eyes were drawn to your cover. I had never heard ofof your magazine prior to this. I walked and immediately bought the issue. My mom bless her heart, got me a subsrcription for my birthday, which I had for many years.
Over the years, Eating Well has reenforced, (Canadian spelling) my prorities-healthy life centered aound healthy eating, and healthy choices. Congrats to your staff who put together that issue as my eyes took the first bite and discovered a valued publication on my coffee table-and well read I might add.

Through all of my life, I've lacked an understanding of nutrition and I paid for it with an obese body. After changing my lifestyle to lose 95 pounds I needed to find a reliable source of nutritional recipes that were exciting and fulfilled my new dietary demands for healthy, low-calorie meals. I found exactly what I was seeking from EatingWell. I depend on EatingWell to provide a variety of recipes and detailed nutritional information for any type of meal I'm seeking and I can cook any EatingWell recipe of my choice and know it will fit perfectly within my calorie restrictions and taste incredible, too! Out of the fifty EatingWell recipes and counting that I've prepared, they have all been 4 or 5 star worthy.

Thank you for helping me maintain my health and my weight loss goals with delicious food.

I have been following Eating Well since its early days...and I still have the magazines and still cook from them. Most of my recipes are either Eating Well originals or derived from them. Quite a few people have been turned on to the magazine and web page from me...currently I have subscriptions for 4 friends and family members and have had many more in the past.

I summarize Eating Well as "tasty, healthy recipes and good, solid healthy eating advice. Not just trendy like other cooking magazines". Anyone can make a full-fat recipe that tastes good, but it's art when you make a devine meal AND it's healthy!

ABSOLUTELY! In September I decided to start eating healthier because I needed to lose weight. I am a foodie and love to eat good food, that's where EatingWell helped me. The recipes aren't just healthy but they are DELICIOUS! My goal is to try one new EatingWell recipe every week. Some weeks I find it very hard to choose. One of my all time favorites if Hamburger Buddy. My favorite new find is Caramelized Onion Lasagna - WOW, it's fantastic and so flavorful! With the help of your magazine - and online recipes - I've lost 23 lbs! Thank you EatingWell!

Yes, EatingWell has changed my life! I was a subscriber for a year or two and occasionally actually made a recipe from the magazine and saved many of the online recipes for future use. This past August I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and now have to closely monitor my carb, calorie and sodium intake to manage diabetes. I love that the recipes (in the magazine and online) give me the information I need without searching for it. I also love that there is a huge variety of ingredients so that cooking and eating never gets boring because I have SO many choices! My goals for this year are to continue to follow the dietary guidelines my healthcare providers have given me and to use at least two EatingWell recipes each week in my menu planning. I've tried many new ingredients because of the recipes and look forward to trying out many more tasty recipes.

Thanks so much for a great resource. I've enjoyed the magazine so much that I purchased gift subscriptions for my two adult daughters.

Eating Well recipes have been like ebenezers raised at some of the most monumental moments of my life. I can remember coming home from the birth of my second daughter to the aroma of Ropa Vieja wafting through the house; my mother had made our favorite in celebration of our newest addition! I think of the chocolate chip cookie recipe (Bev’s Chocolate Chip Cookies) that seems to have helped our family make new friends in each of the six places we’ve lived in the past seven years—everywhere from the Appalachians to Africa. I remember Smashed Spiced Sweet Potatoes at our family Thanksgiving feast and Pulled BBQ chicken creeping from the kitchen air toward the bedrooms in our seminary bungalow while my husband was in school. I remember the fifth wedding anniversary that my husband and I spent under a homemade tent in the midst of West Africa’s dry season, eating a carefully prepared Classic Lemon Tart I had prepared for the special occasion—one of the only favorite recipes I could find the ingredients to create while living in a rural village of Cameroon. I remember years of memories making Holiday Sugar Cookies with my two daughters; visions of their little aprons, excited faces, and a kitchen entirely dusted in flour bring a smile to my face. I remember Died-and-Went-to Heaven Chocolate cake for my birthday and using the Essential Eating Well Pie Pastry recipe to bake my very first pie. Eating Well recipes have marked everything from our most extravagant celebrations to our most average “everydays”. If food can mark our memories the way a bookmark marks a page, then Eating Well has done that in my life. Here’s to many more fragrant monuments in years to come!
