Even living in British Columbia it is hard to not get seduced into buying cheaper, and more available, Atlantic salmon. I am glad to hear that all Alaskan salmon is wild caught, and that my canned salmon is not too bad. I will continue to strive to find wild sockeye -- my favourite!

You really don't know much about the different types of salmon. What do you mean when you say a Chum is small and the sockeye is oiler. Sockeye are firm and dryer .......

Wild sockeye is best for grilling. I just read the article and smiled because I've had the most compliments when I've prepared sockeye at BBQs. People who didn't think that they liked salmon, including my mom, discovered that they did. In foil, skin side down, a pat of butter, a squeeze of lemon, salt and pepper. Close the foil and put on the grill.

I go to Alaska and catch my own, freeze it and ship it back.
