Eggs deliver protein, which can help hold you over until lunch. Compared to carbohydrates and fat, protein keeps you satisfied longer. Plus, in one study, dieters who ate eggs for breakfast felt fuller longer and lost more than twice as much weight as those who got the same amount of calories from a bagel for breakfast.

I make a variation of the Weight Watchers Veggie Soup, using whatever I have on hand (usually carrots, celery, onion, red and/or green bell pepper, zucchini...), but I spice it up using the chili spice blend from an old Jane Brody cookbook. It has 2T brown sugar, 2T chili powder (New Mexico is best), 1T cumin, 1T oregano leaves, 1/2 t coriander, 1/4 t allspice, and 1/8 t ground cloves. Sometimes I add black beans and corn as well. It's really tasty and filling and I look forward to eating it!
