This dessert was so wonderful. Easy because I put together the three major components (crust, filling, topping) separately then took them to a friend's house for the weekend. I put it together in about 15 minutes on a Saturday morning, then served it in the afternoon. I should have planned for two, though, it went quickly. :)
I added 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon to the crust and that was a great suggestion.
I made it with sweet cherries, but am planning to make this dessert again in a couple of weeks when sour cherries are available.
And I LOVE my OXO cherry pitter-- soooooo easy! And it's great to have when I mistakenly buy the kalamata olives with pits... ;)

Thanks for this awesome recipe! I love the cream cheese and greek yogurt combo-- so simple and genius. I made a few modifcations that I wanted to share: For the crust, I ground up walnuts and sprinkled in lots of cinnamon and pressed it into the pan (idea adapted from Mollie Katzen). I also thawed out two bags of frozen cherries and heated the corn starch slurry and cherry juice on its own, then took it off the heat and added the cherries later to retain more nutrients. Finally, by using two single servings of greek honey and vanilla flavored yogurt, I didn't have to add any additional sweeteners to the entire recipe. The natural ingredients held up on their own nicely!

Dear Anonymous - Does the recipe call this a no cook or no effort or no dirty dish or no utensil dessert? Yes, you still have to put some effort into making it! And okay I do agree with your comment regarding the reducing and thickening time - more likely to be longer than 1 minute! But WOW you really flew off the handle here! If you want a no cook no effort no dirty dish no utensil dessert then just run out to the store or bakery and buy one. The answer is just THAT simple and you just may keep your blood pressure down some too.

I'll tell you what I think: I call BS!! A "super easy, no-bake dessert" and "the best part? You don't need an oven!". No oven, just a cherry pitter, a small skillet to toast your walnuts, a food processor, a saucepan , an electric mixer, oh and your baking dish that, thank God, you don't have to heat up the oven and bake! Oh, and then this gem: "cook, stirring constantly, until the liquid thickens and looks syrupy, about 1 minute." When will these so-called "foodies" get real and fess up that NOTHING, AND I MEAN NOTHING, reduces and thickens in "1 minute". I don't believe for "1 minute" that Emily McKenna tests and develops anything at the EatingWell Test Kitchen - an oxymoron if I ever heard one! Sorry, BS.
