Pumpkin has always been my favorite, though I love apple, as well (I'm from a pie-o-holic family), but my husband much prefers apple, and usually doesn't touch the pumpkin.

I think both are delicious, however, I think pumpkin is better. Pumpkin is a softer sweet taste, and it satisfies your sweet tooth. My husband said he can't choose because he equally loves both. I make a full meal of turkey and stuffing with veggies at least 5 times throughout the year, and pumpkin is the pie I choose to make each time. The only "canned" product I use. I cook and freeze pumpkin during harvest that I purchase from farmers market each yeah. So, naturally I choose pumpkin.

Pumpkin, I thought we were talking nutrition here! We eat apples in crumbles, muffins, oatmeal, and our hands, at my house.
The orange vegetables, not quite so easy. In addition to pumpkin pie at the big family dinners, I also make a dessert I call "Pumpkin Nota Pie" throughout the year. The difference, which cuts calories & eliminates the trans-fat question altogether (along with a lot of work) is that I cook it in a glass baking dish & skip the crust. Sometimes I use splenda & brown sugar for the sugar, if it seems like a good idea.
