I tried this recipe a couple of weeks ago. The cornbread topping ended up expanding so much that the chili underneath practically disappeared. It did not look like the photo at all. Don't get me wrong, everyone loved it, but even though it wasn't the result I expected

I was leary about making this recipe after reading the comments but wanted something for a cold night that would serve 6. I followed the recipe as stated; and although I liked it, my family was not very impressed. The flavors are rather bland, so I would recomment increasing the spice amounts. I will probably not make this again.

We don't use beans in our chili. I would like to have a great recipe without any kind of beans. Now for my pairings,I love chili,I just don't think they belong in my chili. I love beans but they should be cooked with a slab of salt pork or smoked jowl or a piece of smoked pork. I also like jalapeno pepper in mine. Then pair that with corn bread, a piece of onion and a wilted salad and you have a meal.
