Hilary asks: What are your "must have" Christmas sides and desserts?


Mashed carrots and turnips with some butter. They are a definite must have.

M family has to have an Italian Creme Cake, Persimmon Pudding and weet potato cassorole with brown sugar and nut topping

Pomegranate poached Pears really look nice . Similar dessert can be made with apple too. Also its very easy to make apple preserve yourself which takes only 20 min,s to make. Its pure,its cheaper and most of all has no preservatives and excessive amount of sugar. Cut apples into half inch cubes without removing the skin. Let it simmer in water which is 10% of the volume of apples so as to make them slightly soft.Then add the desired sugar,cook for a few minutes,let it cool and store in the fridge.
