The hardest part is that sometimes you buy all the ingredients you need for a week of meals and then you have a change of plans, or you are too exhausted to cook and the food gets wasted. Some weeks I'm gung-ho about cooking and want to unwind in the kitchen after weeks. Some weeks I think I'll be that way and then I'm not. Those weeks I waste money and food.

For me, the hardest part of meal planning is planning around everyone's preferences. I am a vegetarian. My husband and boys are not. I am constantly cooking two meals (one for myself and one for the family), or cooking a big meal for me on Monday and reheating leftovers while I am cooking a meat meal for the family.
