A healthy brunch to start the new year

As much as I love the parties, cocktails and delicious food on New Year's Eve, I look forward to New Years Day much more. Why? Because I've started a tradition of making a New Year's Day brunch for friends. I love crawling out of bed at my leisure, going straight to my kitchen to start cooking up some of my favorite brunch recipes (see this year's picks below) and sharing the first meal of a new year with people I love.

Here's my New Year's Day brunch menu:

Cheesy Polenta & Egg Casserole This memorable brunch centerpiece is rich with cheesy polenta, crumbled sausage and baked eggs.

Winter Fruit Salad Fruit salad isn't just for summer; orange, grapefruit, pineapple, star fruit and pomegranate combine for a satisfying dish your body craves.

Cranberry-Apple Coffee Cake This coffee cake calls for a tart apple, such as a Granny Smith or a Pippin, combined with cranberries and spices to make a beautiful topping for a delicious treat festive enough for any brunch.

Campari, Grapefruit & Pomegranate Cocktail Balance herbaceous Campari with the sweet-tart flavors of pomegranate and grapefruit. This pink drink looks festive in a stemmed wineglass with a twist of orange zest.
