Hilary asks: What are your tips for the best grilled cheese sandwich?

I usually lightly toast the bread and then put in the oven at 350 or 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 min. That way you don't have use any butter at all.

There is a bakery in Michigan that makes a lovely multigrain, artisan bread called Seven Grain Sourdough. It is perfect for grilled cheese. The bakery is the Traverse City based Stone House Bakery, but I buy it in Kalamazoo. Also, an easy Tomato Bisque kind of soup is made when Healthy Request Tomato Soup and a can of stewed tomatoes are combined and heated. Quick and Easy. Also, I use a broiler to toast the bread, using Olivio spread instead of butter. Then switch to bake at 350°, put the slices and cheese together and bake till the cheese melts. SallyC.

We always put on thin slices of tomato, onions and jalapeno peppers. We do use a thin buttering of butter, but the real stuff. Cracked wheat sour dough is the best bread! Use a cast iron skillet!
