Penelope asks: What's your vote: is it really Thanksgiving if there's no pumpkin pie?

I think it's Thanksgiving as long as you're surrounded with people you love & cherish and you've prepared their favorite foods knowing they will enjoy them. Sitting down to dinner, saying grace and giving thanks for all of you being together - this is Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie, pecan pie, sweet potato pie - leave out one or the other - as long as you've got your loved ones, you're set!

We must have Pumpkin pie for our daughter, but our son wants chocolate pie. I like pumpkin pie for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving also.

My family doesn't like pumpkin pie. They prefer Sweet Potato or Pecan Pie---especially pecan. For them it would be no thanksgiving if there was no Pecan Pie!

I used to think so but after eating it for 58 yrears, I'm more inclined to try something new like the cranberry upside down cake....it looks delicious! Nice job on the photography too.

MY family loves pumpkin pie, I think. But is it the pie, or the whipped cream? I can take it or leave it, prefer the apple pie, coconut cream, blueberry, anything else. But if you really want to please this family, pumpkin MUST be served - it MUST be home made, and it MUST have home made whipped cream on top.

I would never have dreamed of a Thanksgiving dinner without Pumpkin pie but then i discovered the awesome Sweetpotato pie, this is so good that it does rule out the pumpkin theory, but I still love pumpkin pie.
thank you
