Hilary asks: What is your favorite holiday pie?

Wrong !!! Sugar is not sugar !! High Fructose Corn Sugar is much worse than regular sugar, Plus it is GMO as well. And use cane sugar instead of regular sugar which comes from beets ( GMO again).
And the canola oil is GMO.
So the maple syrup is a great idea, and using cane sugar and coconut oil for the canola oil - and this pie now sounds really good. I am making it today.

I just read the comments after your Pecan Pie article was posted on Yahoo. Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate how you made the recipe healthier and although I have not made it yet, I'm sure it will be delicious. I have been cutting back on sugar in recipes for years. It just goes to show why our nation is filled with sick and obese people relying on medications to get them through the day. Don't let their negative comments discourage you. The people that appreciate what you wrote just take the information and usually don't bother to write in. Most people just don't want to change.

My holiday favorite pie is Apple. I love to make the crust and lattice, butter it on top and put a little sugar on it and bake. It is my husbands favorite. I would like to make an apple pie that is really tall.
By the way, My mom used to make a pecan pie recipe that was a not so sweet version and I always liked
it better. We do like to put a few chocolate chips in one of the pecan pies and it is soooooooooooooo
good. Penny McCoy from Arlington Texas.
