Both this year's cookie platter (2010) and last year's (2009) have so many nuts included to boost the flavor and nutrition profile. While I like that idea, my son is highly nut allergic. I can leave the nuts out but then I don't get as much flavor in my cookie (or cake or entree) and it tastes "flat" or not as tasty and then we're wishing for the "regular" full fat or full sugar version again.
Please include more nut free recipes in your magazine! Leaving the nuts off isn't the solution when your recipe depends on them for flavor or substance (as in a crust).

My favorite cookies are pecan tarts. My grandmother used to make them and they signify Christmas to me. Cut-out sugar cookies too. And the gingerbread cokies a friend makes for me every year in the cookie tins she gives as gifts. They're the best and I only get them once a year. Really I love all cookies!

I ended up making the Fig ’n’ Flax Thumbprint Cookies. I made them this weekend and man are they good! We'll see how my girlfriends like them. My cookie swap is this Thursday and that will be the true test... I still want to try making the Holiday Logs too if I have time. Yum!
