Week 3: Get Social Support to Make Losing Weight Fun

Hi Laura,

I would try reaching out to people at your gym. It may feel hard to approach them at first but people might be in the same boat as you...and would rather walk with a buddy than on the treadmill! Sometimes, communities and towns host 5k walk/runs, and local gyms and community centers have fitness-themed events. Check out EatingWell's Facebook page, as later this month we will be starting a weight-loss support group of sorts with our food editor.

Good luck!

I am trying very hard to lose weight. I have medical issues that make it harder and I don't know many people in my area that I can go on walks with. Mostly everyone I know works. I am not working due to medical issues so, I go to a gym and try to eat better. But, I do feel having that extra support from others helps a lot. I just need to have some others to get that support from here locally and I don't have that. Any suggestions?? Thanks.
