Can't live without chocolate. Luckily, I like dark chocolate which is lower in sugar and fat and milk chocolate!

I love this point. The best long term solution for our weight is to be responsible around our eating behaviors, rather than cutting out the foods we adore!!
After all, a tiny amount of chocolate (or, as you say, fill in the blank) is not fattening in itself. But its overconsumption can make this or any normally healthy food become bad for you.
So, yes, eat the dessert. Do it in control and it doesn't cost you in the end.
