It is so true! Everyone wants a magic pill, book, video, etc. but the fact is counting calories IS the magic solution. My husband and I started on Feb. 2 (2000 calories a day for him, 1500 for me) and I have lost 25 lbs., husband down 29 lbs. Don't make it harder than it has to be :)
My favorite indulgence is craft beer. High in calories but pair a good hoppy ale with a single square of super dark chocolate and it is fabulous!

Fried foods, I always crave fried foods when I am trying to diet. So, like once a week I allow myself a small fry at Mcdonalds to stave off the meltdown.
