My wife and I have been on the diet for several months and have lost 20 lbs apiece. The fasting days were a bit hard at the start but are now quite easy, kind of a relief from eating, with none of the hunger pangs or lows one typically thinks not eating will entail.
My HbA1C has dropped from 6.4 to 6.1 and my PCP is very impressed!

I started 5:2 after reading a magazine article. Never read the book. The whole idea is so simple I have never needed to. Started April 3, 2013. I do not count calories on normal days. I eat a small dessert every night of a normal day. Fries occasionally. Pizza too. I generally eat pretty healthy. As of today I am down 35#.
I find it easy, sustainable and a no brainer way of dieting. I normally eat one 500 calorie meal around 4:00 on fast days. Easy to stick to knowing you can have anything you want the next day. I do not binge either on non fast days. Just eat to full, which is more recognizable now, and quicker to reach. I notice d belly fat is/was the first to go... I love this lifestyle and after I drop ten more pounds I am switching to 6:1 for maintenance.

I can not exactly say because fasting can be a good thing for the body but until we do it in moderation when we go over the top that can be something which is over the top. I mean isn't goo for the body.So its better if you take care of your diet and eat stuff which has low fats and calories.
This is more for advice. I have only just started the 28 day healthy eating plan, which I have no complaints what so ever, although i'm just wondering what fluids I can drink that will help me along the way. I know water is the way forward but is there anything else that is recommended and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks Lesley

fasting 2 days a week is sunnah in Islam (What our prophet Muhammad) taught us to do.. :)
