I eat a little bit and then go do something like vacuum or finish the dishes, then once the food settles a little I re visit my plate and take a few more bites, and then do a little task or clean up something and then I finish the rest of my food if I still want it, or put away in the fridge for a snack for later.

If you are having a hard time eating slowly try chewing your food until you can no longer feel its original texture. This works great for me and it takes me about 20-30 minutes to eat a meal.

Put the fork down in between bites and converse with people. It helps get the mind off of food/eating for the time being.

I set my fork down. It helps me from continuously shoveling food in my mouth.

I put down my eating utensil then sit and talk or whatever for a minute so that my tummy ends up feeling fuller without as much food.

Everyone is going to positively figure out for themselves a trick to force themselves to eat slowly by chewing more. Also, another trick is to take SMALL bites...therefore you can cut down on the chew time.
Personally, I have formed a habit to do this and urge everyone to do the same. When you sit down to eat, whichever time of the day it may be, notice the time when you start, and allow sufficient time, without distraction to do it the right way.

I count to my age (54!) between bites. This doesn't always work, but it does slow me down.

I have always been a slow eater and the people I work at think I eat alot because they're always done a lot earlier than I am. I always put the stuff I'm eating down between bites. I grew up in a large family and meal times were full of conversations and catching up on stuff. I guess the trick is to eat with people you enjoy talking too!!!

I have always been a slow eater and the people I work with always think I eat alot because they're always done alot sooner than I am. Part of the reason I think I eat slow is because I put whatever I eat down before taking another bite. I grew up in a large family and we used mealtimes as a time to talk and catch up on stuff. So, I guess the trick is to find someone enjoyable to talk to during a meal!!!

Ever since i can remember, i was told that if you eat really slow you can eat more. Where did this come from?
