It should be noted that this study was done only on men. It also was intended to measure weight gain and not weight loss. Other similar studies on women show we do not respond the same way and it is better to eat just a little before working out first thing in the morning for higher metabolic impact.

Having tried it both ways, I've settled on after, unless I'm working out quite late (a 10:00 am yoga class once in awhile). In that case, I'll have a smoothie with yogurt, frozen fruit, juice and a little honey when I get up, and then have a healthy lunch after the class.
