I agree with most of those here who disagree with you about the Paleo diet. I began a modified version of it (including some grain, but phasing it out) and some dairy. Immediately, my severe arthritis got better and is now almost gone! My digestive problems also went away. In short, GRAINS are not things that humans should eat in mass quantities. As an anthropology major, I can verify that it is actually the case that humans ate little or no grain until the advent of agriculture, about 7,000 years ago. Yes, we have become somewhat used to it, but at what cost? Allergies, asthma, arthritis, indigestion, headaches, diabetes, cognitive problems and many other ailments! Just because celebrities like a diet does not make it bad.
However, I strongly disagree with the idea of eating raw animal products. The chance for infestation with parasites or infection with dangerous bacteria is just too high!

The best way for us to recieve and utalize vitamin D is from the sun. Ive been eating Paleo for 4 months, i no longer crave sweets at all, i no longer crave starchy foods like bread and potatos and these two things alone where always my achillies heel when i had tried any other eating style. Your information is incorrect about the Paleo Lifestyle, please do a bit more research next time.

If you read up on the diets properly you would see that low fat dairy is allowed during the attack phase of Dukan... Plus you neglected to mention that the very restrictive attack phase is maximum 10 days...

I am not personally on the "paleo diet" yet.. Came across this article while doing research....and I rarely comment on these things, but I feel that it need to here. How can you call yourself a nutritionist? Kale has more calcium than a whole container of milk, and if you're looking for vitamin D you can find it in many things other than dairy, such as fish. I hope that you will do your research before you go warning people against trying things that will undoubtedly improve their health next time.

In paleo dairy is allowed its just supposed to be whole fat and the least processed you can get. also calcium is in a lot of substitutes such as almond milk which is considered to be paleo.

I have been on several low carb diets in my life to help maintain my weight and well being. Currently I am living the paleo lifestyle with lots of vegtables and fruit and lean meats. I have chosen to continue this diet becuase I love the way it feels. Contrary to your comment about needing carbohydrates for memory and mood, my own memory and mood have become even better since adopting this diet. I no longer have any "senior" moments and the lag that I would normally feel in the afternoon is gone. I also no longer have cravings for sugary sweets and bread as I have in the past and therefore I have been able to control my weight much easier.
The only thing that I truely miss from my regular diet is the cheese. I have long ago given up all other forms of dairy either due to there sugar content (ice cream) or thier expense but I still love my cheese. I counteract this with allowing myself 3 cheat meals a week which I try to save for social gatherings.
For the most part the Paleo diet seems to me to be a very healthy diet. You still recieve the recomended protien, the amazing fruits and vegtables that should be included in a healthy diet and the right amount of healthy fats needed for a healthy mind and body. The only thing you are really giving up are breads, sugars and very high starches like potatoes. This to me is a good trade of for the peace of mind, healthy hair, skin and nails, and lack of cravings that I have been blessed with since going paleo.

Your approach sucks. Paleo society is huge and successfully and is not a diet is a way of life. Please study hormones before commenting on memory loss and the way metabolism goes. Otherwise change the name of your website

Actually dairy causes plaques to deposit in the body which can cause serious health concerns. There has been extensive research supporting that fact. Soy and almond milks actually provide you with more calcium than dairy milk and it has no saturated fats so they are an all around healthier altunitive, especially for those with high cholesterol and heart disease.

There are no phases in the Paleo diet. None. I cannot even begin to think of a paleo health advocate or author who would recommend such a thing. Paleo dieters eat whole, natural foods in whatever quantities and at whatever times they want to. It doesn't even have to be low carb as you claim.
