Can one eat healthy carbs with protein/healthy fats and still lose weight? Is there such a thing as food combination?

the diet myth i want to see busted is the blood-type or body-type diets, or any diet that makes it sound as if you just have to find the magical combination of foods for your body. is there some truth to that for each individual? maybe, b/c we feel better when we avoid certain things that each of our bodies doesn't seem to like for some reason. but i am tired of those other diets. it's calories in, calories out. thanks, eatingwell, for having some sense and a balanced, healthy approach!!

I agree with changing what you eat. I did and only for stomach problems, not to loose weight. I cut out red meat, dairy, and potatoes and increased vegetables, and lost 6 lbs.in less than 2 weeks. I felt better, still have problems, I always will but it matters what you eat!! I eat Cereal for breakfast, salad for lunch and loads of veggies for dinner. When I go off this my stomach let's me know!

Myth: You'll be hungry if you diet.
I agree! - I've been changing my eating habits for the past 12 days - eating between 1600 and 1800 cals a day. I weighed 240 - now 232. I'm making the 500 cal meals from eating well, and most importantly - tracking what I eat. Some days, I write out the entire day and check it off as I eat.
My big filler-upper? Barley. I've not eaten red meat in the last 12 days. My knees are no longer swollen. I have had, chicken, shrimp, and pork. All good. All filling. I'm loving what I'm eating. I weigh myself every 10 days. The first weigh in was great, I'm looking forward to the next one. Seriously! I feel so much better with just changing what I eat. Duh!
