Yes! I've been eating intuitively for 30 years, after recovering from an eating disorder. It's the only way to really eat what you want in a way that makes you feel well and helps you reach and maintain your natural, healthy weight. Thanks for giving more attention to this

Intuitive eating is NOT NOT NOT a diet! Your headline is misleading and contributes to the warped diet mentality that if you can just follow this external plan, your life will be miraculously changed forever! The 10 points of intuitive eating are what are commonly used to help people understand it, however, you do not stop eating when you are FULL, you stop eating when you are no longer hungry. If you are paying attention to your satiety cues, you will stop much earlier than eating until you are full. IE puts you back in the driver's seat. Since nothing is off limits, there is no feeling of deprivation. Since you are honoring your body's "stomach hunger" vs. "mouth hunger" (Matz) cues, savoring your food and eating mindfully, it becomes so much easier to let go of the external rules that we are bombarded with by misinformed media and even so-called "experts". Doctors and dietitians are the first ones to advise weight loss for every ill. I always ask, "is this the treatment you would prescribe if I weighed 100 pounds less?" Inevitably, they say no. then I ask, "why would you prescribe something with a 95% failure rate? If a drug had that kind of failure rate, it would be off the market, yet dieting, which is a short-term temporary foray into starvation and slowing your metabolism down has a 95% failure rate and you're telling me to try it?" Needless to say, I have found a doctor, dietitian and therapist who embrace Intuitive Eating and all it's tenets and I am healthier, happier and calmer than I was for decades buying into the Diet Mentality. I am sad that Eating Well, which I started reading because it talked about the benefits of healthful cooking and eating has regressed into just another diet promoting, weight loss is the only way to happiness publication. Not everyone has to lose weight, some people just like to eat well for the joy of how it makes them feel. If you are going to promote IE, don't do it from the standpoint of weight loss, do it from the standpoint of viewing it as a part of a life long comittment to a healthful lifestyle.
In addition to Evelyn Tribole, also check out Judith Matz, Linda Bacon, Jon Robison, Geneen Roth and other EXPERTS in the field of IE and let them write your articles instead of someone who puts her own diet mentality spin on what she writes.

Don't eat bread, potatoes, rice, and pasta.if you like chckein live of that. omlette for brekkie mushroom, peppers, garlic, any veg you like really. only use 1 egg yolk and 2 or 3 Whites, or scrambled eggs.lunch, chckein stir-fry, (no noodles) with a stir fry sauce, or just fry some chckein and add some frozen mixed veg.tea, same sort of thing as lunch if you had stir fry have the chckein and veg, also with the chckein and veg you can add a tin of chopped tomatoes and a bit of curry powder.there is just as much goodness in frozen veg as fresh, plus water comes out of it so if your making the curry or stir-fry its never dry.also if you don't mind hot food add 1 gram of fresh chillie into every meal, it speeds up your metabolism, and eat a whole red pepper before you go to bed.stick to this and you will loose weight, i hav lost 3 stone since christmas, and i don't go to the gym or anything like that, im quite active but nothing serious.if you do this I GUARANTEE YOU WILL LOOSE WEIGHT but you MUST avoid the 4 foods i mentioned earlier.it will fall of you, good luck..

yes you're right. i'm an intuitive eater. ever since i gave myself full permission to eat what i want when i want in whatever quantity i want i have ended up less obsessed with food and eat more normally. the fever is over and i am 30 pounds down form the previous year's weight of 320. don't get caught up in the dieting game for it is a trap. the americans are a diet conscious nation and they are the most obese. the french don't know what diets are and they are ten times healthier. they enjoy fresh slow food and eat at a leisurely pace and zestfully luxuriate in the fresh outside air rather than the cubicle stuffy atmosphere. they're not that much into fast food either. i mean they really luuuuurve to eat. and they do it intelligently. that is the only secret.

I am not a full time intuitive eater, but I want to be at that level. When I think about dieting and then try it I get so anxious that I gain weight! Last time I was a nervous wreck and I can't put myself through that again. So, fatty as I am, my first priority is my peace of mind. I find that days I work I want to sit around and eat all kinds of junk but when I am not working I can take my time and enjoy my food. Sometimes I eat more than other times but I am not grabbing everything I can to pork out on and I will choose some fruit and such to eat as well. I feel like I will lose the weight I gained from the last diet if I relax. It will be interesting to see how this works out when I retire, in less than a year.
