Aldi Is Selling Frozen Avocado Chunks That Are Perfect for Smoothies
Plus, they're just 33 cents per serving!
We can't be the only ones who struggle with the size—and rapid browning—of avocados once they're open. (A serving is generally one-third of the fruit, by the way.) In fact, it's pretty clear we're not alone, since products like this Joie Fresh Pod Avocado Keeper Storage Container ($6.49, amazon.com) exist. And one of the trendiest TikTok videos of the summer has been @kmag1's water-storage avocado hack.
Our most frequent solution is to freeze our leftover avocado pieces. But for an even quicker and likely more affordable solution, Aldi now has our backs. Season's Choice Frozen Avocado was recently spotted by @aldiforpresident, who loves melting a handful into ground meat mix to sneak some healthy fats into her kids' diets.
It's also an "Aldi Find" from July 29 through August 4, meaning it's one of the brands several seasonal promotions that are new or returning fan or staff faves. At $2.99 per 10-ounce bag, this is a total steal. Similar to Welch's Frozen Avocado that hit the scene a few years ago at $11 to $12 for 32 ounces, each serving is ¼ cup. We crunched the numbers and that means each serving of this Aldi option is just $0.33 each—much less than the usual $2 or so ($0.66 per serving) we usually invest in a fresh avocado.
While frozen avocado chunks can't stand in for fresh everywhere, such as in grain bowls, salads and some guacamoles, they work brilliantly in sweet and savory creations like decadent Chocolate Avocado Shakes, cocktail hour-ready Avocado Margaritas and garden-inspired Creamy Cucumber Dill Soup.
We recommend adding this versatile, affordable ingredient to your next Aldi shopping list—especially since this could be a limited-time offer at the retailer. Missing this deal would be the pits. 😉
