Run—Don't Walk—to Grab These New Healthy Trader Joe's Products
These nutritionist-approved picks are worth a TJ's run ASAP.
Trader Joe's is one of my favorite places to grocery shop. It has great prices on a lot of my favorite foods. And while I often go to Trader Joe's for certain healthy staples, it's always fun to see what new products the trendsetting store has recently released. Here are some of the new foods to watch out for the next time you head to Trader Joe's.
Butternut Squash Pizza Crust
If you're a fan of their cauliflower pizza crust, chances are you will love this squash version as well. It's even lower in calories and carbs than their cauliflower crust. There are 60 calories and 14 grams of carbohydrate per serving.
Riced Cauliflower Bowl
Reach for this cauliflower rice bowl with chickpeas, sweet potatoes, tofu and tahini sauce for a quick vegan lunch. The box says it contains 2.5 servings, but if you end up ending the whole package, it's still only 300 calories and 400 mg of sodium (there are 120 calories and 160 mg of sodium per serving).
This packaged snack has only three ingredients you can recognize-popcorn, avocado oil and pink salt. The heirloom kernels are slightly smaller than traditional popcorn. TJ's excels at popcorn and this new variety doesn't disappoint. Two cups has 180 calories, 2 grams of fiber and 2 grams of protein.
Seltzers With A Splash
These seltzers have no added sugar and instead get their flavor (and color) from a splash of real juice. They come in three fun flavors-Blood Orange & Orange Juice, Lemon & Ginger Juice and Cranberry & Lime Juice. The Lemon & Ginger Juice was crisp and tart with just the right amount of bite from the ginger and we can't wait to try the others.
Crunch Dried® Honeycrisp Apples
Honeycrisp apples are sweet and delicious and these new dried apples are a great way to always get your fill. The only ingredient is apples so there is no added sugar. Plus, you don't have to worry about bruised and browned apple slices if you're packing these for lunch or snack.
Brussels Sprouts & Carmamelized Onion Ravioli
As if we didn't love fall vegetables enough, Trader Joe's went and put two favorites-Brussels sprouts and caramelized onions-into little pillows of pasta with cheese. Half of the package has 220 calories and 12 grams of protein. These freeze well so are great to stash at home for quick-dinner emergencies.
Organic Yellow Lentil & Brown Rice Spaghetti
Bean pasta's are a hot and healthy trend we can get behind. Trader Joe's version mixes yellow lentil flour with brown rice flour and is gluten-free. There are 3 grams of fiber and a whopping 14 grams of protein per serving (twice what classic pasta delivers).
Organic Mediterranean Style Salad Kit
Trader Joe's has been killing it with their salad kits lately. These are a great way to get your veggies in when time is tight. This blend features romaine, gut-healthy broccoli stalks and chickpeas and a red wine vinaigrette. For a heartier salad, add in your protein of choice.
