Thanks to Airbnb, You Can Now Take a Cooking Class with The Great British Baking Show's Prue Leith
Home-rental site Airbnb launched Airbnb Cooking Experiences today, with one-of-a-kind cooking classes across 75 countries.
The Great British Baking Show fans now have the opportunity of a lifetime, thanks to Airbnb. The company just launched Airbnb Cooking Experiences, where users can book unique culinary experiences in over 75 countries—and one of those experiences is getting to cook with Prue Leith. In case the name doesn't ring a bell, Leith is a Michelin star-winning chef and restaurateur, author, journalist and judge of The Great British Baking Show (titled The Great British Bake-Off in the U.K.). She replaced the beloved Mary Berry in 2017 and has been a well-received addition to the show.
Airbnb Cooking Experiences is offering a once-in-a-lifetime afternoon with Leith at her famous cooking school—Leith's School of Food & Wine—where guests will cook three of her favorite recipes alongside her. And if you know anything about Leith, you know some good booze will also be involved—guests will get to sip on some wine while enjoying their culinary creations.
"We'll start off by getting to know each other and I'll provide some of the tips and tricks I've picked up over the years, and share some of my fondest cooking memories," Leith says in the experience description. "I'm also keen to find out more about your own cooking journey, whether you're a passionate baker, a part-time chef or a total novice who just wants to try something new! This experience covers all the basics while offering something for everyone, whatever your age or skill."
As if all that weren't enough to make you want to sign up, all attendees of this event will get to bring home an apron from Leith's School and a copy of Leith's latest cookbook. This event is open for registration on December 9, 2019 and will take place on January 29, 2020 at 11 a.m. You can sign up here to get notified when registration opens, and this experience will be offered for $199 per person. One hundred percent of the ticket price goes to Chefs in Schools, an organization that helps bring healthy food to schoolchildren and transform the school food system.
While you're in the U.K., you might as well also book a ticket on one of Belmond British Pullman's afternoon tea train rides—hosted by another GBBS celebrity, Mary Berry—which pick back up for the season on February 1. Be sure to set your alarms for December 9 so you can get the chance to embark on the ultimate bake-off trip, or gift a GBBS-obsessed loved one with this amazing opportunity for the holidays. We have a feeling this would be a pretty unbeatable present!
