Employment Opportunity: Junior Web Designer

EatingWell Media Group, located in the Burlington, VT area, is a fast-growing, independent media company that focuses exclusively on the expanding healthy-eating sector. EatingWell is positioned to be the leading source of science-based nutrition advice; delicious, easy and healthy recipes and useful shopping information.

Responsibilities

Help bring the EatingWell brand to life online with the goal of driving traffic and increasing retention. Assist in day-to-day website maintenance and design, working closely with Art Director on related projects. Responsibilities include:

• Produces graphic mock-ups, designs, and copy layouts for online content for:

Homepage
Channel pages
About Us
Client mock-ups
PowerPoint slides
In-house ad banners
Sales materials
Special projects

• Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy
• Executes brand standards in selection of fonts and imagery
• Arranges layout based upon optimal traffic generation
• Create, edit & optimize images
• Work with our team to design visually attractive web pages based on principles of good design and usability
• Construct application pages using current Web languages and techniques
• Ensure that the pages conform to standards of HTML validation, and browser compatibility
• Work with our team to proactively assess graphic needs and recommend solutions to assist in their overall internet strategy
• Works under immediate supervision of the Art Director

• Knowledge of layout principles, and aesthetic design concepts.
  
• Must have a basic understanding of HTML, DHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  
• An understanding of major graphic design software (Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc.)
  
• Candidate must possess aptitude for user interface design and usability, in addition to a strong grasp of color, layout, and design principles.

Additional Skills
Any Flash experience is a plus.
