EatingWell Media Group Internships

EatingWell Media Group offers both editorial and interactive internships. Editorial internships focus on EatingWell Magazine. The Interactive Internship Program focuses on Eatingwell.com and other web-based initiatives.

Editorial Internship Program

There are three editorial internship sessions per year:  fall semester, spring semester and summer. There are one to two internship positions available per session, and potentially more, depending on interest. The positions are unpaid (but rewarding). The program is designed to provide local opportunities for college juniors and seniors, college graduates (up to a year after graduation) and master’s candidates who are eager to gain hands-on experience working for a national magazine and website. At the end of the session, interns will receive a performance evaluation and give feedback to their supervisor about the program.

In addition, an art/graphic design internship is available for highly qualified applicants; contact Michael Balzano, Art Director: michael@eatingwell.com.

EatingWell has a 15-year reputation for delivering cutting edge, authoritative, science-based nutrition articles and delicious recipes that represent a fusion of good taste and good health.

Candidates should be analytical, accurate, flexible, efficient, reliable; have the ability to follow directions and work within a team (as well as independently) while maintaining a creative mindset. At the end of the internship, interns will write up a summary of their experience, including observations and reflections on the editorial process at EatingWell.

Description

The EatingWell internship gives students the opportunity to use the research of food and health to develop writing skills while also learning the ins-and-outs of producing a national publication. Covering everything from food writing to factchecking to layout and design, the internship provides an inside look at a career in the magazine business.

Although the main focus of the internship will be working with the magazine’s editorial team, interns will also gain experience in other areas, including art and production, marketing, advertising, nutrition and the Test Kitchen. They will be expected to follow company factchecking and style guidelines. They will keep track of their hours and accomplishments. They will conduct themselves in a professional manner.
