EatingWell Media Group offers both editorial and interactive internships. The Interactive Internship Program focuses on Eatingwell.com and other web-based initiatives.

E-Marketing | Web Producer/Writer | Web Development/Design | Company Profile

E-Marketing Internship

E-Marketing: to assist in a variety of e-marketing activities. This is an excellent opportunity to get good exposure to and practical experience in web marketing best practices today.

Activities may include as needed:

• Run reports from Google Analytics, e-mail vendor, search engine results tracking service, SEO Toolset, competitive analysis; update Excel summaries; tracking of traffic acquisition and web usage
• Assist with updating of webpage Meta data for SEO
• Assist with PPC campaigns with Google, Yahoo, and other search engines
  
• Conversion funnel testing programs - create landing page funnels, code for testing tool(s), monitor, reports
  
• Assist in upgrade of product sales pages and promotion
  
• Initiate link exchanges with government and nonprofit agencies

Education experience requirements:

• Interest and some training in web marketing, basic understanding of html page elements, exposure to Google Analytics or other web analytics tool preferred
• Writing and math/spreadsheet skills
• Office product suite (Word, Excel)
• Can quickly learn new computer online tools and resources

Web Producer/Writer Internship

Creative production position will work closely with web producers to create and maintain web content for Eatingwell.com and partners. Assist in hands-on project management and writing as well as ongoing content production tasks in a web technical environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assists in developing and uploading content primarily by creatively leveraging existing resources.
• Assist in movement of Interactive jobs through all departments, including scheduling
• Assist in usability and UI issues, developing storyboards as needed
• Assist in preparing documents for partner deliverables, including writing, proofing, and tweaking of documents.
• Take part in partner calls, take notes and follow-up with action items
• Hands-on production of content pages via CMS
• Enter Meta tags into CMS for SEO

Web Development/Design Internship

Assist in day-to-day website design and maintenance with tasks such as:

• Assist in production of graphic mock-ups, designs, and copy layouts for online content for Eatingwell.com
• Edit & optimize images
• Assist in construction of application pages using current Web languages and techniques
• Ensure that the pages conform to standards of HTML validation, and browser compatibility
• Enter content into CMS
• Enter meta tags into CMS
• Assist in storyboard development for online tools and widgets
• Assist in development of interactive prototypes for online tools and widgets

Requirements:

• Must have a basic understanding of HTML, DHTML, CSS, and JavaScript. (PHP ideal, but not required)
• An understanding of major graphic design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc...)
• Candidate must possess aptitude for user interface design and usability, in addition to a strong grasp of layout and design principles

We have a variety of internships with the Interactive Group which is responsible for www.eatingwell.com, 3 digital newsletters, partner content deliveries, and web marketing to drive and retain traffic to the website and sell EatingWell products.

Nationally-known EatingWell is located in Charlotte, about 25 minutes south of Burlington on Route 7. We have a lively staff in a dog-friendly office near the Charlotte beach, and we are often pressed into service in the EatingWell Test Kitchen tasting new recipes. We work hard and also have fun. You'll be able to show your Mom the magazine and website, and she'll be impressed!
